Product Description
The compressor cylinder is the core pressure-bearing and working component within the compressor body, designed to form an enclosed compression space and guide the reciprocating or rotational motion of pistons or rotors, thereby enabling the intake, compression, and discharge of gas. During operation, the cylinder block is subjected to long-term high internal pressure, cyclic mechanical loads, and thermal stress. Cylinders are typically constructed as monolithic castings or high-strength forged-welded structures, with materials selected based on working pressure and medium characteristics—such as high-quality alloy steel, high-strength low-alloy steel, or corrosion-resistant alloys. The inner wall of the cylinder body may undergo precision machining, surface hardening, or wear-resistant treatment as required, to enhance abrasion resistance and extend service life.

Totem Machinery specializes in the design and manufacturing of compressor cylinder housing for a wide range of industrial equipment. We have accumulated extensive experience in ensuring the reliability of pressure-bearing structures, controlling machining precision, and achieving long-term operational stability. For different pressure levels and medium conditions, the gas compressor cylinder structure is carefully designed to account for stress distribution, thermal deformation, and sealing reliability, ensuring stable performance under high pressure, alternating loads, and continuous operation. We implement rational cooling channel layouts and structural arrangements for the compressor cylinder housing, effectively controlling operational temperature rise and guaranteeing long-term, stable equipment performance.
We select high-quality HT250 cast iron and strictly control the quality of castings and forgings. Combined with appropriate heat treatment processes, this ensures the forged cylinder body possesses excellent strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance. The inner bore and key mating surfaces of the compressor cylinder block are machined using large CNC boring and milling equipment, with strict control over roundness, straightness, concentricity, and surface roughness to effectively reduce leakage and wear risks.
Machining Process
During the machining stage, key processes include the rough boring, fine boring, and necessary finishing of the cylinder bore to ensure that its dimensional accuracy and surface quality meet the requirements for piston movement.
The following diagram illustrates the cylinder body bore boring process, where the cylinder body is precisely machined using a large boring mill to ensure uniform force distribution during piston reciprocation.

Product Inspection
After completing the primary machining processes, the cylinder block enters the quality inspection phase. Commonly performed inspection items include:
(1) Ultrasonic Testing(UT): Used to detect internal defects such as shrinkage cavities or cracks within the cylinder block.
(2) Hydrostatic & Pneumatic Pressure Testing: The cylinder body and its critical connection areas are subjected to specified internal pressures using water and gas media, respectively. This verifies sealing integrity and pressure resistance, checking for leaks or structural flaws.
(3) Cylinder Block Installation and Pressure Testing Fixture: This fixture is used to simulate the actual installation and loading conditions of the cylinder block within the complete machine. It comprehensively verifies the sealing integrity and structural stability of the cylinder block in its assembled state, effectively enhancing the correlation between test results and real-world operating conditions.

A rotating machine is never only about turning speed. Inside the system, axial force, heat, and lubrication conditions are constantly changing.
A machine may run smoothly for a long time and still develop one serious issue: unwanted axial movement. When a shaft shifts in the wrong direction, rotor position becomes unstable, or metal surfaces begin to wear faster than expected, the problem often points to the Thrust Bearing.
Replacing a Thrust Bearing is often treated as a simple maintenance task, but in real industrial equipment it is rarely that simple.
The white metal thrust tilting pad is a core component in heavy-duty rotating machinery, responsible for withstanding axial forces. Its technical sophistication directly determines the safety and reliability of unit operation. The key technical challenges for thrust tilting pads lie in areas such as
